North Carolina DNA Day is an annual event where scientists from NC’s leading research universities and institutions visit over 100 high schools statewide to present interactive, hands-on lessons about genetics, genomics, and biotechnology, which reinforce the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
ExstoBio has fundraised and donated proceeds to support the End Overdose non-profit organization in the fight against the opioid epidemic and opioid overdose deaths in the United States. CSO David Lee and Ali Alvarez are also working to establish an End Overdose chapter at UNC Chapel Hill and provide scientific education and outreach for the non-profit.
Last Prisoner Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to criminal justice reform. Through legal intervention and advocacy, they work to redress the harms of unjust policies. ExstoBio supports and plans on conducting philanthropy in the future with Last Prisoner Project.
Launch Chapel Hill is a startup accelerator, co-working space and community of innovators that values and supports all people to encourage innovative thinking, individual empowerment, community outreach, economic development, and impactful change that lifts all people.
UNC School of Law's Intellectual Property Clinic assists ExstoBio in securing trademark protection of “ExstoBio” to ensure the brand will be protected in the marketplace. The Startup NC Law Clinic assists ExstoBio in establishing its Board of Directors, Business Advisory Board, Scientific Advisory Board, and other legal documents related to ongoing deals.
Inicio Ventures selected ExstoBio’s Co-Founder & CEO, Juan Carlos, as one of the Top 12 student-founders in the United States.
